SALLY: I made french toast.
DON: What’s on this?
SALLY: Mrs. Butterworth’s.
DON: Go get it…. That’s rum! Read labels.
SALLY: Is it bad?
DON: Not really.
Mad Men, Season 4 Episode 9
Some of the best scenes from the television series, Mad Men, are the ones between Don Draper and Sally. This recipe for rum french toast comes from a scene in season four where Sally wakes up early to make breakfast for her father. Unknowingly, she mistook a bottle of rum for syrup. She asks if tastes bad in which Don shrugged and replied “no…” and continued to enjoy his breakfast. I think it was safe to assume, Don probably enjoyed the rum replacement! Please enjoy the recipe, thanks!
