Right, now, who do you have to screw around here to get a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit? Right.
PRIME MINISTER, LOVE ACTUALLY, 2003
It’s been a tradition of mine to watch my favorite Christmas movie, Love Actually, on the first weekend of December. It’s a way for me to get in the holiday spirit. I honestly would watch it more if try family and friends didn’t make fun of me for watching this movie year round. One of the first recipes I made for this blog was Juliet’s banoffee pie. It still is one of my favorite recipes. The recipe I have today is for the Prime Minister’s (played by Hugh Grant) chocolate biscuit. The biscuit is so great with the extra chocolate and cocoa nibs on top. The nibs are entirely optional but I highly suggest adding it. Enjoy!
Love Actually: Prime Minister's Chocolate Biscuit
Ingredients
- 1 cup / 5oz / 141g - all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp / 7g - good quality cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp - salt
- 1/4 cup / 1.85oz / 50g - granulated sugar
- 1 tsp - baking powder
- 3 tbsp - unsalted butter tempered, cut into small cubes
- 3 tbsp - whole milk
- 3/4 cup - dark chocolate
- cocoa nibs optional, as needed
Instructions
- In a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
- On medium speed, add the butter and mix until the mixture resembles wet sand.
- Add the milk and mix until the mixture forms a ball dough. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350F. Prepare a baking sheet with a sheet of parchment. Set aside.
- On a lightly floured surface, role the dough out until it's 1/8" thin. Punch out circles with a round cookie cutter and transfer to the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until crispy and lightly golden. Let cool.
- In a microwave or double boiler, melt the dark chocolate. Drizzle the cookies with the chocolate and while still melted, top the chocolate with cocoa nibs.
