BIG LITTLE LIES, EPISODE: ONCE BITTEN
I feel like all people can talk about now is the hit mini-series show, Big Little Lies, starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley. The series is based off of Liane Moriarty’s book, Big Little Lies, released back in 2014. There were very few food scenes in the show but in one of the episodes, Ed Mackenzie’s talks about his special BLT sandwich. Being such a big fan of the BLT, I knew I had to make the sandwich no matter how minor that scene was.
Big Little Lies: Ed Mackenzie's BLT
Ingredients
- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 4 slices vine ripen tomatoes
- 4-6 leaves iceberg lettuce
- 8 slices thick cut bacon
- 2-3 tbsp mayonnaise
Instructions
- In a cold cast iron pan, lay out a few slices of the bacon, 4 slices should be fine depending on the size of your pan. Place the pan over medium heat. Cook the bacon low and slow Flip the bacon occasionally until you get a nice even brown on both size. Place the cooked crispy bacon on a few paper towels to drain. Continue cooking the rest of the bacon.
- Toast the bread either on the pan or in a toaster. I personally love slathering a bit of mayonnaise on one side and toasting it on the pan.
- Spread some mayonnaise on one piece of toast. Layer on the lettuce, bacon, and then the tomatoes. Top it with the second piece of bread and enjoy.
