I must be one of the only people left that has not yet tried McDonald’s famous Shamrock Shake. The Shamrock Shake shakes makes a return every year in time for St. Patrick’s Day and while I’m sure McDonald’s serves up a great shake, I’m pretty sure I have a recipe that will knock you socks off! This recipe for Shamrock Shake comes from the hit television show, This Is Us, when Toby whips up a healthy version of the drink for Kate.
Uh, this looks like a Shamrock Shake, and it sounds like a Shamrock Shake, but I’m guessing it does not taste like a Shamrock Shake.
TOBY, THIS IS US, SEASON TWO – EPISODE NINE
There are many recipes online for a healthy version of this decadent drink. Feel free to make some adjustments to the recipe depending of what you have on hand or what consistency you want it to be. I wanted the drink of be luscious and decadent and the addition of the frozen bananas gave it that perfect consistency. If you’re worried about the overwhelming flavor of banana, don’t worry, because the peppermint was a fantastic flavor to help cover some of the taste. Also, if you’re into protein powder, add that in instead!
Since I’ve been trying to cut out sugar in my diet, I’m been CRAVING chocolate and ice cream. While this isn’t ice cream, it really helps battle that sugar demon that’s been taking over my body. Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think! Have a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day! Please enjoy!
