She stared at the supper set before her: trout wrapped in bacon, salad of turnip greens and sweetgrass, pease and onions and hot bread. Brienne was eating methodically, as if supper were a chore to be accomplished.
GAME OF THRONES, CLASH OF KINGS
I CAN’T WAIT until it’s Sunday!!! I’m so excited, yet scared, to see what the season finale has in store for us. If it’s anything close to what we saw last Sunday, you know we’re in for some extreme highs and lows. So much happened in the last episode that I need to watch it again before the new episode airs.
The recipe I have for today is bacon wrapped trout inspired by the a scene in the book, Clash of Kings. This recipe is ridiculously easy especially if you purchase the fish already butterflied. Other than that, it’s just making sure you don’t over cook the fish! It’s a great recipe if you’re having a small gathering for the season finale. Please enjoy!
Game of Thrones: Bacon Wrapped Trout
Ingredients
- 2 butterflied trout 1/2 pound each
- 4-6 strips thick cut bacon
- 4 slices lemon seeds removed
- 2 sprigs lemon thyme
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425F.
- Open the trout and pat dry with a paper towel. Season with salt and pepper. For each trout, lay a sprig of thyme and two slices of lemons in the cavity. Fold the fish back over and wrap the bacon around the fish with the seams on the bottom.
- Place the fish on a baking tray and bake for 8 minutes. Transfer the fish to a boiler and let it cook until the bacon is golden and just crisp. The time will vary depending on your oven.

I haven’t started watching Game of Thrones yet (I know… have I been living under a rock?!) … but these bacon wrapped sardines look DELICIOUS!
