My dear Bagginses and Boffins, Tooks and Brandybucks, Grubbs, Chubbs, Hornblowers, Bolgers, Bracegirdles and Proudfoots.
Proudfeet!
Today is my one hundred and eleventh birthday! Alas, eleventy-one years is far too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable hobbits. I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve. I, uh, I h-have things to do. I’ve put this off for far too long. I regret to announce — this is The End. I am going now. I bid you all a very fond farewell. Goodbye.
Bilbo Baggins – The Lord of the Rings
Bilbo’s birthday was one feast I’ve been dying to recreate from the very beginning. I’ve dreamt of what it would be like to live in Hobbiton and especially what kinds of food they ate. While we didn’t really get to see what they ate in the movie, I’ve created a list of food items appropriate to the time period and including food that food stylist, Deborah Logan, has mentioned creating for the scene. She mentioned there being toffee apples, roast meats, cakes, and pork pie.
I’ll be posting more detail and recipes on the feast in the next following days and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Can’t wait to see what’s on the menu! I really hope (for our sake) that you never ever run out of inspiration for your blog. It’s so lovely.

I hope so as well! It’s honestly been a worry of mine from the very beginning that I won’t have enough ideas but everyone has been reminding me that the stories and movies are endless. I would love to keep this up for a very long time! Thank you so, so much! You’ve been incredibly supportive.
