Harry had the best morning he’d had in a long time. He was careful to walk a little way apart from the Dursleys so that Dudley and Piers, who were starting to get bored with the animals by lunchtime, wouldn’t fall back on their favorite hobby of hitting him. They ate in the zoo restaurant, and when Dudley had a tantrum because his knickerbocker glory didn’t have enough ice cream on top, Uncle Vernon bought him another one and Harry was allowed to finish the first.
Harry Potter, The Philosopher’s Stone
When I first heard of the Knickerbocker Glory my mind was spinning of what on earth it could be. After some research, I find that it’s actually quite similar to a sundae. A Knickerbocker Glory is a dessert served in a tall glass with layers of ice cream, cookies, fruit, and syrups. There is no exact recipe so it’s really up to you on what you want in your Knickerbocker Glory. This is such fun thing to do especially when you have friends over for a Harry Potter marathon and everyone can create their own. Here is my version of the Knickerbocker Glory but feel free to adjust to your taste buds.
- vanilla ice cream
- chopped hazelnuts
- brownie pieces
- sliced fresh strawberries
- crushed meringue
- caramel sauce
- maraschino cherries
- lightly whipped cream
- chocolate and hazelnut wafer cookies
