Gurdyroot infusion was first introduced to us through Xenophilius Lovegood in Harry Potter’s Deathly Hallows. The questionable drink was described by Ron as tasting like “boogeys” and had the color of beetroot. What immediately came to my mind was hibiscus tea. Hibiscus is a flower usually seen dried and infused for tea and it gives off a deep red color similar to beets. The flavor is quite tart like cranberry but it’s great for regulating blood pressure and blood sugar. The addition of honey will help with the tartness and create a much better tasting drink. This is a perfect drink to have cold on a hot day, as well.
