I first got the idea to do Harry Potter themed sugar skulls after I was skimming through the book, Harry Potter – The Artifact Vault. In the food and drink section of the book, they mentioned that the prop department was inspired by director, Alfonso Cuaron to make sugar skulls for the set of Honeydukes. Similar skulls are also sold at The Wizarding World. Now while the skulls were beautifully done, I wanted to do something different and make skulls inspired by actual characters from the book.
There are a few places to purchase the skull mold online but I purchased mine from http://www.mexicansugarskull.com
I highly recommend purchasing your molds from there. I put in my purchase a few weeks ago and unfortunately it was lost in the mail. Angela, who runs the company, was kind enough to send me another one. THANK YOU, ANGELA! I followed the recipe and directions exactly from the website so I highly suggest going there if you plan on making some on your own.
