SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
What a week it’s already been! It started off with hotel sales for San Diego Comic Con that, as expected, was incredibly stressful. The new process seems easier but it really didn’t help that there was absolutely no confirmation and that they stated hotels will go out randomly. We’ll find out on Friday to see if all this stress is worth it! Let me know in the comments if you’re going to SDCC this year!
Another really exciting thing that happened on Tuesday was Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally our on DVD and Blu-Ray! I’ve been dying to finally see this movie again after seeing it on IMAX. Another cool feature is that BB-8 (Sphero) can now watch the movie with you! It’s the newest update and he reacts to the sounds from your television. I honestly acted like a 5 year old child when I first found out. I was overloaded with excitement.
Now, to get back to today’s post! I’m continuing the Snow White theme and I have the apple dumplings the dwarfs requested Snow White to make. Apple dumplings have to be an ultimate comfort food. It’s a buttery flaky dough typically baked in a whole lot of butter and sugar. For this recipe, I wanted to do something a bit different because I really didn’t like the idea of letting the dumplings bake butter. I cooked the two component separately and I have to say, it’s really amazing. It has the same flavors and component of an apple pie but it’s smaller and served with a delicious buttery sauce. Feel free to change the shape and size of the dumplings. It’s really up to you! Please enjoy!

- 1/2 cup / 3/5oz / 100g - granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp - unsalted butter

Instructions
- To prepare the dough, mix together the flour, sugar, and salt. You can do this process with your hands, stand mixer, or food processor. Work the cold butter into the dough until the butter are the size of hazelnuts. Add just enough water to bring the dough together when pressed. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400F.
- Roll out the prepared dough into 1/4" thick on a lightly floured surface and punch out 5" circles.
- Combine the second amount of sugar and cinnamon and set aside. Toss half of the sugar mixture with the sliced apples.
- Fill each circle with the apples. Seal each dumpling with water or egg wash. Repeat with the rest of the rounds. Place on a parchment lined sheet pan. Brush with egg wash and top with the sugar mixture. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by combining the water, juice, and sugar. Mix to combine and place over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes or until thickened. Add the butter and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
- Serve the dumplings warm with the sauce. It's amazing with a side of vanilla ice cream!
