VINCENT, ST. VINCENT, 2014
St. Vincent is a movie directed by Theodore Melfi starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, and Naomi Watts. The movie premiered in 2014 but I actually came across this film when I wanted to listen to Bob Dylan’s “Shelter From the Storm” on YouTube. Funny enough, the video of Bill Murray singing the song was one of the first results that showed up.
The story follows Maggie and Oliver (played by Melissa McCarthy and Jaeden Lieberher) as they start their life in a new city. While moving in, they meet their neighbor Vincent, a retired and grumpy alcoholic, who at first seems like the last person you would want to live next to. As the story progresses, Oliver and Vincent grow to learn more about each other and their relationship and journey takes off from there. This movie is not a thriller but the story will stick with you for a while and is well worth the time to watch.
