Suicide Squad comes out this Friday in theaters and I already bought my tickets for this weekend’s showing. I can’t wait to see Margot Robbie play Harley Quinn and Jared Leto kill it as The Joker. I have had a few thoughts floating in my head for recipes inspired by Suicide Squad but I thought I’d start with the simplest which is this purple skull lollipop from the Suicide Squad title. This is really easy to make for a big group on a movie night.
I didn’t have molds to create this specific shape of lollipops so thankfully I came across this amazing blog with a tutorial on how to create your own molds. Please visit her blog for more detail on how to create your own molds.

Suicide Squad: Skull Lollipops
Ingredients
- 2 cups / 14oz - granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup / 4oz - water
- 1 tbsp - corn syrup
- 1/2 tsp - cream of tartar
- violet gel food coloring as needed
- 8-10 - large lollipop sticks
Instructions
- Prepare your lollipop sticks and mold on a silpat lined sheet pan. I didn't have mold specific for this shape and thankfully found a tutorial on how to make your own. Please follow the posted link above for more detail.
- Add your water, sugar, corn syrup, and cream of tartar in a small pot over medium high heat. If any sugar collects on the side of the pan, brush with down with a bit of water on a food safe brush to prevent crystallization.
- When the sugar reaches 310F, take it immediately off the heat and mix in one drop of the food coloring. Stir to combine.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared molds and set aside to cool and harden. Remove the mold when the lollipops are hardened.
- To create the eyes and teeth, take a bit of violet coloring and start to draw it out with a fine tip brush. Shade in the edges of the face to create a more skull-like face. Let it dry before packaging.
